The Great Conversation – Extended Excerpt

January 9, 2011
I've been looking for THE GREAT CONVERSATION book-length essay by Bob Hutchins because somehow I subscribe to his and Adler's educational philosophy of perennialism. That is, education is a non-ending task of engaging and advancing the great ideas as found in good and great books of Western Civilization. Such books are represented by The Great Books of the Western World. But other selections and lists such as The Harvard Classics can do this as well. While I don't think this type of education should be imposed to everyone, this is a good recommendation. I accept the invitation to the lifelong journey of participating in the Great Conversation.
